The Ottawa Guiding Council for Mental Health and Addictions and its partners are pleased to announce the successful launch of the Alternate Neighbourhood Crisis Response (ANCHOR) prototype in Centretown. This innovative initiative, which began operations on August 15, 2024, marks a significant step forward in community-based crisis support. This community-led, non-police, non-emergency service provides support to people aged 16 and older in Centretown experiencing a mental health or substance use-related crisis. We would like to acknowledge all the community members who participated in consultations and recommended an alternate crisis response rooted in compassion, cultural awareness, trauma-informed practices and anti-racist approaches.
If you are in Centretown, please call 2-1-1 to access the ANCHOR mobile crisis response teams of outreach and peer support workers, available in French and English, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. For more information, visit the ANCHOR webpage.
